Bookkeeper Position

We are looking for a customer-oriented and a tech-savvy bookkeeper with Canadian experience who loves to work in a dynamic environment with minimum supervision and is proficient in full-cycle accounting. You will be primarily working remotely in a cloud-based environment.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining records and applying strong accounting skills, including A/P, A/R, journal entries, cash management, reconciliations etc. according to Canadian generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Preparing HST/GST/QST/PST tax returns for all provinces as needed
  • Directly communicating with clients using online tools such as teamwork, slack, zoom etc. with little to no supervision for basic tasks
  • Participating in activities needed to support the management functions of the team

Minimum qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Three or more years of strong bookkeeping and accounting experience is required
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable learning & using new technology with minimum supervision. Experience of working on applications like QuickBooks Online and Xero, Hubdoc, Wagepoint, Teams, Dext etc will be a plus
  • Knowledge Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • QuickBooks Online and Xero certification would be an added advantage, you can take these certifications for free
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Payroll & Sales Taxes and experience filing the respective government returns
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits
  • Ability to work directly with multiple clients
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures

Notes:

  • You MUST be available during regular business hours. This is not a job that can be partnered with your other full-time job.
  • We believe in offering personal touch to our team and clients and therefore you might be required to visit the client or meet the team in Toronto once a week.
  • You will need a quiet office/space to work remotely, a computer and strong, fast and reliable Wi-Fi.
